Meet Andem
My name is Anthonia Okokon. I’m a photographer and writer based in Bristol, UK, with a professional background in international development consulting. Born and raised in Calabar, Nigeria, I remain drawn to places and stories that reflect a strong sense of identity, memory, and everyday life.
My photography is shaped by an interest in culture, history, and human connection, often focusing on landscapes, local architecture, and quiet observations of daily life. I’m particularly interested in how people relate to their environments and how memory and place intersect in visual storytelling.
Outside of photography, I work on development projects across Africa, supporting efforts in economic growth, policy reform, and private sector development. I also enjoy reading literary fiction, watching films, and writing about the spaces and people that leave a mark on me.
This site brings together my personal projects in photography and writing, and serves as an evolving archive of the places I’ve been and the moments I’ve tried to hold on to.
